L’article cela illustre par une vignette ethnographique de terrain pour démontrer le processus de l’échelle dans le quotidien. La vignette met en avant les enjeux autour le sens et la classification de mofussil adjacent à une ville planifiée en train de développement s’appelle New Town en Bengale-Occidental, Inde. S’attirer du débat concernant l’échelle et le social et l’expérience du terrain, l’article affirme qui conceptualisant le processus du l’échelle comme un processus qui délimiter des frontières, évaluer les valeurs et est relationnelle, qui manifeste dans le terrain comme les cadres et les effets, peut soit un site productif pour l’engagement d’examiner les processus banaux et singulier tandis qu’abandonner échafaudage prévu et l’échelle a priori et l’objet prévu dans le social. The paper develops an interface between the disciplines of geography and sociology by interfacing social and scale. The paper illustrates this through an ethnographic vignette from the field to demonstrate scaling in the quotidian. The vignette brings to the fore controversies surrounding the meaning and classification of mofussil adjacent to a planned, developing city named New Town in West Bengal, India. Drawing from the debates around scale and social, and the fieldwork experience, the paper argues that conceptualizing scalar processes as bordering, valuing and relational, which get manifested in the field as frames and effects, can be productive sites of engagement to unpack mundane and singular processes while distancing from expected scaffoldings, and a priori scales and objects in the social.
